Of the many arts and crafts classes available at L&A Healing Studio, painting is one of the most popular. Relaxing and relieving stress are just a few of the many reasons why you should take a painting class, but once you’re signed up you may be wondering what to expect. Here’s what you should know before taking your first painting class.

#1: You Don’t Need Any Experience

You don’t need to be an exceptional artist to attend a painting class. In fact, you don’t need any experience at all! Our painting classes are designed so that anyone, regardless of experience, can enjoy them. While you might hear the term “class” and instantly think of school, you shouldn’t worry as there are no tests, grades, or homework involved.

Painting classes are all about relaxation and getting away from the daily grind of life. Your first goal should always be having fun! Your instructor will walk you through the design process step by step while teaching you new techniques, ensuring you’ll be able to take something home at the end of the class that you’ll be proud of.

Don’t let your perfectionism stop you from attending a painting class, either! Everyone starts somewhere, and a painting class is the perfect consequence-free way of learning a new skill. As you develop your skills, you’ll gain valuable self-confidence that will help you feel more in control of your life.

#2: You Can Bring Your Own Materials & Drinks

Although we provide some supplies for you, you are welcome to bring your own as well. You can be as creative as you’d like during your painting class, using mixed media, canvases, or various materials to make your creation unique. Some ideas of things you might consider bringing include various sizes of brushes, colored paints, or physical materials such as glitter.

At L&A Healing Studio, we also welcome you to bring your own beverages to our classes so that you can sip while you create! Painting is all about relaxing and unwinding, so we encourage you to bring whatever drink you love most to enjoy throughout the class.

#3: You’ll Meet New People

Our painting classes are open to everyone from all walks of life. You’ll meet new people of all ages, ethnicities, and skill levels. If you’ve recently moved or are just looking for some new friends in the area, Chicago painting classes are the perfect way to have great conversations and meet new people.

You don’t need to come alone, though! Painting classes can be a great idea for date night or a fun activity for your group of friends. Whether you’re catching up with old friends or meeting new ones, you’re sure to leave with memories you won’t soon forget.

#4: You Can Paint Without Knowing How to Draw

If you’ve been discouraged from taking a painting class because you feel like you can’t draw, not to worry! Painting is its own unique art form, and you don’t need to know how to draw to be able to create a beautiful masterpiece. Our instructors will teach you concepts and techniques unrelated to drawing that will help you on your journey to becoming a skilled painter.

#5: It’s Not a Commitment

Painting is just one class L&A Healing Studio offers. If you try your hand at painting and feel that it isn’t for you, not to worry! We have many other creative art classes for you to try, including terrariums, jewelry making, soaps, and more! Our classes are designed to fit your busy schedule, and as a way to experience new hobbies to find one that’s a perfect fit for you.
